New York, NY (November 9, 2017) – Robert Parker Wine Advocate (RobertParker.com),the leading authority on wine, announces the return of its international Matter Of Taste tour to New York on Sunday December 3, 2017 at The Conrad New York.
On the heels of the sold-out events in Zurich and London earlier this year, the New York Matter Of Taste tour completes its 2017 global series of exclusive events for RobertParker.com members, non-members and guests. The signature event, the Grand Walkabout Tasting, will feature over 300 outstanding wines, each rated 90 or more points by Robert Parker Wine Advocate. This year’s themes will be The Ultimate Cult Cabernets & Champagne December Edition.
The roster of events will include a VIP preview hour, the Grand Walkabout Tasting, and exclusive rare wine Master Classes. A progression of exceptional wine dinners will take place throughout New York the week of November 27, 2017, including a very special “Champagne Salon Dinner at Daniel” on December 2, 2017, hosted by Stephan Reinhart and Salon Delamotte Export Director, Mathieu Pouchan at the luxurious two MICHELIN stars restaurant, Daniel NYC. A sumptuous five-course menu specially paired to showcase the wines of Champagne Salon and Champagne Delamotte will feature six vintages from 1970 (Champagne Salon – 2006, 2004, 2002, 1997, 1995, and 1983; Champagne Delamotte – Brut Rosé, 2007 Blanc de Blancs, 1970 Collection, and 1970 Blanc de Blancs). The “La Paulée” Grande Finale Dinner, The Ultimate Hedonist’s BYOB Dinner, December 3, 2017, will conclude this extraordinary week, with guests invited to bring up to three bottles of their favorite “90 RP points or above” wines to share with fellow subscribers and members of the Robert Parker Wine Advocate review team. Set in the Loft of the Tribeca Grill a sumptuous sit-down, four course haute-cuisine menu will make this an extravagant feast not to miss. The Grand Walkabout Tasting, 12:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m., will include some of the world’s most prized wines, encompassing a range of varietals (including no less than three perfect 100-Point Cabernet Sauvignons), regions and styles. In addition to the Grand Walkabout Tasting, four exclusive Master Classes are offered. Wine Advocate Editor-in-Chief reviewer Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW and Christopher Carpenter, Winemaker, will be hosting “The Life of Cardinale” – come and celebrate the life of Cardinale through a vertical tasting of 10 vintages, dating back to 1995, from the winery’s cellar, including the highly acclaimed 1997, 2002, 2007 and 2012 vintages.
Wine Advocate reviewer Stephan Reinhardt and Cyril Delarue, 6th generation of the Bollinger family, will be hosting “Champagne Bollinger Perspective” – a focus on the Tête de Cuvée wines of Champagne Bollinger. The featured wines are 1990 La Grand Année, 2002 RD Extra Brut, 2005 La Grand Année, 2005 La Grand Année Rosé, 2007 La Grand Année, 2009 James Bond Spectre Limited Edition and 2009 La Côte aux Enfants.
Joe Czerwinski, Wine Advocate reviewer, will lead “WA (Wine Advocate) presents WA (Washington State Wines) versus WA (Western Australia, Margaret River)” where wines from two of the most promising New World Cabernet regions are pitted against each other in a blind tasting. Attendees will get to decide for themselves how the wines from Western Australia stack up against the wines from Washington State. Both are capable of greatness, yet in different styles that reflect their very different origins.
Luis Gutiérrez, Wine Advocate reviewer for the wines of Spain, Argentina, Chile and Jura presents his first solo book, The New Vignerons, A New Generation of Spanish Winegrowers at Matter of Taste in New York. In this tasting he will walk through the different regions of Spain, where he will profile the growers included in his book, 14 of them in total, covering the geography of the country, from the Canary Islands to Jerez, Rioja, Galicia, Priorat and Ribera del Duero. These growers are some of the most exciting names of the wines from Spain, unearthing forgotten local varieties, wine styles and traditions in a return to the past.
